Guidance on when to keep your child off school due to illness

  • Chicken pox - stay off school until all spots have crusted over.
  • Conjunctivitis - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Flu - stay off school until recovered.
  • Glandular fever - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Hand, foot & mouth - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Head lice - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Impetigo - stay off school until lesions are crusted and healed, or 48 hours after started antibiotics.
  • Measles or German Measles - stay off school for 4 days from onset of rash.
  • Mumps - stay off school for 5 days from onset of swelling.
  • Scabies - stay off school until after first treatment.
  • Scarlet fever - stay off school until 24 hours after starting antibiotics.
  • Slapped cheek - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Threadworms - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Tonsillitis - no need to stay off, but please notify the academy.
  • Whooping cough - stay off school until 48 hours after starting antibiotics.
