£1650 raised at Decades Summer Festival!
The Samworth Church Academy throws back to the 90s with the Decades Summer Festival!
The Decades Summer Festival was an afternoon of brilliant entertainment including some iconic 90s tunes with strong flavours of britpop, girl power and hiphop. Our Music, Dance and Drama students showcased their hard work in front of a live audience. There was also a very special cameo from Gary Barlow - well Mr Hollywood-Long in a very convincing wig - and the brilliant staff band: the Samworth Seven.
As well as live entertainment, festival goers enjoyed games, food & drink and stalls from local businesses. There was a great party atmosphere and it was lovely to see so many of you outside of the usual school day.
The Decades Summer Festival served as more than just a nostalgic party; it was also a fundraiser for Academy+.
Academy+ is about providing education beyond the classroom, and the £1650 raised from the Decades Summer Festival will be used to fund initiatives such as Project Flavour, Music For All, Project Can Do, the Brilliant Club, Work Experience and more.
You can find out more about Academy+ and the vital work it funds here.
Thank you!
A huge thank you to all the staff, students and members of our Mansfield community who volunteered their time to make this a brilliant event a success. Thank you to Nottingam Crane Hire for providing the stage and all the stand holders for adding more to see and do to this wonderful event. And a special shout out to Mr James, Mr Preece and Ms Riley-Macis for being such good sports in the stocks - always a popular attraction!
And finally thank you to everyone who came to the Decades Summer Festival for supporting the Samworth Church Academy. We'll see you again next year!
