Change of leadership at the Samworth Church Academy

31 January 2025

Dear parents and carers,

I am writing to inform you that Lisa McVeigh, Principal of the Samworth Church Academy is leaving her post. Lisa has asked that the following statement is shared with staff, students, parents and carers:

After 23 years of service at the Samworth Church Academy, seven of these as Principal, and following a period of reflection, I feel the time has come for me to move on. Colleagues who know me will understand that this was a tremendously difficult decision for me as this has been my life’s work. I'm immensely proud of all that we have achieved for the students in our care and all the efforts made to help them have 70 or more great years. I want to express my deep gratitude to all at the Academy for their support and camaraderie. Please know that you and our wonderful, fantastically imperfect students will always be in my thoughts and prayers and that I wish you all good luck and every possible success in the future.

I am sure that you will join with me in sending Lisa the very best of wishes for the future, as well as thanking her for her committed work with the academy.

The Multi Academy Trust has appointed Clare Barber as Executive Principal for Samworth Church Academy, with effect from 24 February, 2025. Currently the principal of West Grantham Church of England Secondary Academy, Clare has also worked in partnership with Samworth Church Academy for the past year and will bring a wealth of experience to the role. I am sure that Clare will communicate with you in the near future by way of an introduction. In the meantime, Mr Chris Vallance is leading the academy.

Kind regards,

Chris Moodie

CEO of the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi Academy Trust
