Year 11 Student Matthew Young Inspires with Javelin Skills
In an inspiring turn of events, Year 11 student Matthew Young from The Samworth Church Academy is set to showcase his exceptional talent in the Under 17s javelin at the highly anticipated National Schools Athletics Championships. This prestigious event, scheduled to take place at the renowned Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on 30th June and 1st July, promises fierce competition as some of the best athletes in the country come together.
Matthew's remarkable journey is not just about personal achievements; it's also a testament to his unwavering commitment to service and making a positive impact. Currently holding an impressive fourth position in the UK rankings, Matthew's success is a result of his dedicated practice and relentless determination.
Recently, Matthew had the privilege of spending time with his coach at Loughborough University, where he was invited to join the prestigious England Throwing Pathway, an incredible recognition of both his talent and determination.
Matthew has also recently come away from the County Championships held in Harvey Haddon, with another consecutive victory, bringing his total to five in a row. He represents Mansfield Harriers with whom he has trained with since he was nine years of age.
He will also be representing The Harriers in the Midlands Championships in August, again defending the title he won last year.
Tomorrow Matthew is continuing his remarkable journey as he proudly represents Nottinghamshire in the Inter Counties, Midlands and North West schools championships, defending his title that he won twelve months ago.
