A-level Geography offers a natural progression from GCSE.
This engaging and flexible course gives students the opportunity to:
- engage with the relationship of human populations to each other over space and time
- study the relationship between human populations with their physical environment at a variety of scales from the local to the global
- consider their own role in relation to themes and issues being studied and the roles, values and attitudes of others including decision makers
- choose between specialised content at both AS and A2, including a dedicated fieldwork option on Unit 4.
Year 12 and 13 students will gain valuable skills in:
- Essay writing
- Fieldwork skills
- Team work
- Evaluation and analysis
- Geographical research and data collection
Grade 6 in GCSE Geography, History or Religious Studies
In Year 12 students will study:
- Human geography topics such as globalisation, migration changes, urbanisation, global warming, and climate change.
- Physical geography topics such as disaster hotspots, climate change and its impacts and coasts.
In Year 13 students will study:
- Energy security, water, environmental and global issues such as, biodiversity, superpower geography, bridging the development gap, food supply, cultural diversity, pollution, leisure and tourism
- Physical topics such as tectonic activity, hazards and cold environments.

An A Level in Geography will prepare you for higher education and careers in environmental engineering, international development, town/city planning, law, GIS mapping and disaster management.
